Happy Earth Day, everyone!

Today is Earth Day! I hope that you were able to do something or at least reflect on how you can help preserve the Earth. At Trinity High School, a few of my colleagues and I planned a special program/breakfast for our co-workers. We had a delicious spread of homemade goodies and free trade coffee. I think everyone enjoyed! We dressed up as the spirits of the woods. I was the Spirit of the Tropical Rainforest. Take a look at our pictures and reflect on the below quote:

"Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect."

HE has Risen!.....

He has risen indeed! What a great Easter! Meredith seemed to enjoy it much more this year...last year she celebrated at the ripe old age of 1 month! She wore the cutest dress and cardigan that her aunts, daddy, and granna bought in Florida during their trip visiting Anna Ruth and Baylee. She looked adorable! We enjoyed a very original sermon by Dr. Bob that was a whole new take on Easter in the fact that we discussed the Stone that was moved in the resurrection and the stones in our life that keep us from having the relationship with Christ that He yearns to have with us. It was very good as well as very convicting!

After church, we enjoyed lunch at Granna and Poppa's followed by a photo frenzy, an Easter Egg hunt, going through Easter baskets from the Easter bunny, dessert, and finally a quick dash home just in time for Meredith's afternoon nap. It is almost 4PM now, and she is still sleeping...I think she had a wonderfully exciting day! We hope that you have enjoyed your Easter and celebrated the meaning of Christ's death and resurrection.

Matthew 28:1-10
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."
So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."

What a gorgeous day!

It was so beautiful that my mother, who came up to visit us for a girls' day out, myself, and Meredith went to the park. We didn't realize that there would be an Easter Egg hunt, so were excited to join in! However, the hunt lasts literally 30 seconds which was not even enough time to get Meredith out of her stroller! Even though, we had a great time and Meredith got some fresh air while swinging joyously on the swing.

It was so good to spend time with Mom and to let her have some special time with Meredith.

Happy Birthday Baylee and Anna Ruth!

Meredith and I are home this week while John, his mother and father, and Melissa (his sister) are in Naples, Florida. Baylee's 3rd birthday is today and Anna Ruth's 30th birthday is tomorrow. We sent down hugs through John, we just hope they know how much they are loved and adored by us! Have a special birthday, ladies! We love you!

There's a CELL ON MY CEILING!

Our latest project in my Biology class....I am praying this has helped them memorize the organelles of a cell.

Happy 27th Birthday to me!

My 27th birthday was jam packed and was celebrated for a couple weeks! I went to visit my mother in Monroe so that we could celebrate by shopping, playing with my favorite baby girl, and then head off to my Aunt's home for her 60th birthday party! It was wonderful to be able to catch up with all of my cousins--wow, have we grown up since the last time I saw them! There are now four children among all of us which just blows my mind. On Sunday night, we celebrated with Ben, Elaine, and Melissa at our home. Elaine made a divine meal and we were able to have a quiet evening after a very eventful weekend.
On my actual birthday, the 24th, John surprised me by informing me that he was sweeping me away for the weekend to the Wyndham Ocean Drive Resort in Myrtle Beach. We arrived on Friday and got settled in. On Saturday, we slowly got up, at a really yummy brunch, I got a manicure and pedicure, and then bought a gorgeous dress at Ann Taylor (talk about the perfect day!). As if that weren't enough, John had made reservations at the House of Blues for a "Murder Mystery" dinner which was a lot of fun. John and I "had a clue" but didn't quite figure it all out. I highly recommend doing this if you ever get a chance! We arrived home on Sunday and spent a great evening kissing our little girl who we missed so much. Oh! And she gave me a great birthday present...she took her first two steps! However, she hasn't repeated this since then!

It was a great birthday and I thank everyone for their wonderful birthday wishes!
