As far as new and fun things that Meredith is doing now, she is eating rice cereal 2 times a day at least and is LOVING it! She kicks and coos when it is time to eat which is completely adorable. Also, she recognizes her bottle which is both a good thing and a terrible thing :). She now sleeps almost 12 hours at night which is WONDERFUL. I am loving being at home with her this summer because I get to experience the little new things she does everyday that often times I feel I miss out on. She is starting to see her toys and reach for them and pick them up with a palmer grasp. She holds her head up at a 90 degree angle when on her tummy and can flip to her back. When on her back, she rotates as much to her sides as she can up until the point where she would actually flip to her tummy. It is funny getting her up in the morning
because she somehow is able to maneuver herself to be facing the opposite direction from that which she was laid down as well as has her head at the opposite headboard. She is also starting to make new sounds and enjoying hearing herself. Today, she starting making this repetitive "ooo...ooo...ooo..ooo" sound and did not stop all day. It is almost a sound like, "hey, give me that back" but we haven't taken anything away. At first, I got nervous, but thanks to my mother's reassurance, I have realized it is just her learning and developing. This weekend John celebrated his first Father's Day which was very exciting. Meredith and I gave John a new miter saw that he loved and
definitely needed! We went to church where John got to have danishes at "Danishes with Dad". We then went to Elaine and Ben's house for a divine lunch made especially for the men: ribs, mac 'n' cheese, squash casserole, peas, bread, banana pudding, and peach cobbler ala mode (again definitely Man friendly). John then was able to come home, not worry about feeding Meredith or changing diapers, and we played the Wii most of the evening. We hope that all of you other fathers out there enjoyed your day and found some time for relaxation!
